The exceedance fee is paid only on the amount of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) that exceeds the Architectural Industrial Maintenance (A.I.M.) category requirement. The fee is collected and paid to the federal EPA by the manufacturer of the coating. The fee is $0.0028 per gram, or approximately $1.27 per pound of excees VOC.
